I was born in Ireland where I lived until 1972. After studying art at Belfast College of Art I was given a Boise Scholarship by the Slade where I studied for a year. Since completing my studies I have lived mostly in Oxford, except for five years (1998-1993) spent in New Zealand.

Artists Statement

My work is mostly about the figure and how it relates to its environment. The aim is to represent the way it both influences, and is influenced by, its context. To do this I use the interaction of colour and pattern to create a sense
of space where the figure feels as if it belongs. The figure reacts to its surroundings until it reaches a state of uneasy peace.
